MOESIA INFERIOR. Marcianopolis. Philip II, as Caesar, 244-247. Pentassarion (Bronze, 27 mm, 13.75 g, 1 h). Μ ΙΟΥΛΙΟϹ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟϹ ΚΑΙ/ϹΑΡ ΑΥΓ Draped and cuirassed bust of Philip II, on the left, facing draped bust of Serapis, wearing kalathos, on the right. Rev. ΜΑΡΚΙΑΝΟΠΟΛΕΙ/ΤΩΝ / Ε Coiled serpent (Glykon) with bearded head to left. RPC VIII online ID 27865. Varbanov 2101. A lovely coin with a beautiful rendering of the serpent Glykon. Slightly rough, otherwise, very fine.
